OPENEYE RELEASES NEW VISUALIZATION & COMMUNICATION SOFTWARE AT BOSTON ACS

Santa Fe, NM, August 15th, 2007 - OpenEye Scientific Software, Inc., the developer of innovative molecular modeling and cheminformatics solutions for drug discovery research, announced today it will release, at the Boston ACS opening this weekend, version 3.0 of its high-capacity visualizer and analysis tool VIDA, together with a brand new communication tool called Vivant.

Dr. Joseph Corkery, Principal Developer at OpenEye, and VIDA Product Manager, explained: "VIDA 3.0 is the result of a lot of work primarily aimed at improving our users' experience in generating custom views and analyzing results from our modeling applications FRED, EON and ROCS. New functionalities were also added, such as the ability to attach grids or surfaces and to bookmark a scene. The latter, in particular, greatly facilitates the communication process with other members of a project team."

Kevin Schmidt, Senior Developer at OpenEye, and Vivant lead developer, added: "Vivant enables an even wider sharing of information by allowing the incorporation of live VIDA or AFITT 3D graphics in Microsoft PowerPoint® presentations or web pages. Users can both interact in the 3D scene and navigate between bookmarked scenes without having to open a separate application."

"Research organizations have made little secret of their difficulties in having modelers and medicinal chemists communicate effectively. We believe that Vivant can dramatically improve the distribution and sharing of critical chemical information, and as a result facilitate the communication between research scientists across departments", concluded Dr. Matthew Stahl, Senior Vice President at OpenEye, and Head of Strategic Development.

At the Boston ACS, Dr. Corkery will give a presentation entitled "Revitalizing the communication of chemical information", with more information on VIDA and Vivant. This is one of six talks and posters that OpenEye scientists will present at the ACS.
